The blog and podcast were born out of personal experience. My wife and I have both had difficult experiences when it comes to managing our careers, me having to re-start my career at 30, and she immigrating to the UK and struggling to find her path.
When my career started to stabilize, I became fascinated with how labour markets work, how people succeed in the knowledge economy, and how people develop satisfying and meaningful careers.
As the research suggests, and as I have seen in my own career, the days of the steady career are over. Global competition, and the rapid pace of technology makes many jobs go out of date much faster. Artificial Intelligence is doing the rote work of lawyers, simplifying the work of doctors, and changing skilled jobs, from taxi drivers to financial analysts.
